We’ve all grown up with our favourite dinosaurs be they Barney, Godzilla or the loveable Rex from Toy Story. Most kids, especially boys, love dinosaurs so what better idea than to throw a dinosaur themed party for your little one’s next birthday?

There are tons of things you can do to make the day extra special. Read on for fantastic food, game, invite and loot bag ideas, and don’t forget to check out our dinosaur party products from just 34p too!

At any party food is one of the most popular parts, as proven by the mad rush for the tables when the party nibbles are rolled out! There are plenty of things you can do with your food to make it fit in with the dinosaur theme.

Below is a great example by Clare Crespo of how you can easily make great, dinosaur-themed party food. This is made with squash, cucumber, okra, and gherkins but you can use any of your favourite veggies to create a scrummy party snack!

Another healthy but delicious idea is to pop a bunch of green grapes in the freezer the night before the party. On the day, serve them piled up in a bowl labelled with ‘dino eggs’ – just be sure to serve them before they defrost and turn back into ‘boring’ grapes.

A brilliant set of party games can make a good party a great one! There are loads of great party games out there that everyone knows – think pass the parcel and stuck in the mud – which can be given a suitably dinosaur-themed twist with very little effort.

Everyone’s played Pin the Tail on the Donkey, so for your next dinosaur party why not play Pin the Tail on the Dinosaur? The same rules apply to this as in the classic version and kids will have the same amount of fun! Take a look below for inspiration from Parenting Fun Every Day.

Piñatas are another classic party game and we’ve got the perfect ones for you – take a look at our brontosaurus and stegosaurus piñatas, both just £12.38.

Why don’t you let your creative juices flow even before the party has even started? Themed invitations are a great way to get guests excited about the party to come and set the theme early on so guests know exactly what to expect!

The family over at Mini Moz Blog created some awesome invites for a dinosaur party they threw – take a look for yourself as how unusual they are:

Party Bags

Party bags, or loot bags, are one of the most eagerly anticipated parts of the party; kids always get excited to see what they are going to receive in their bag at the end of the party!

We have some fantastic 34p dinosaur party boxes, but if you’re feeling crafty why not have a go at making your own? It’s a great way to add an extra personal touch to the day.

Below is an example of a really cool dinosaur themed party bag which is oh-so-easy to make. Here is a simple step by step guide by La Creature and You!

Keeping the kids busy and entertained is one of the most difficult aspects of organising a party. The guys at Kidspot have come up with a great tutorial for a fun, dinosaur-themed game for the kids to play.

Clay Dinosaurs

You, as the organiser, need to make dinosaur ‘fossils’ out of clay in advance and hide them around the house and/or garden for the kids to find. Then organise a treasure hunt – kids will love the thrill of discovering a fossil and guessing what dinosaur species it’s from!
